Axes to Ashes
Colne is home to a truly unique experience – Axes to Ashes, an axe throwing venue owned by Andy Fletcher. Andy’s mission is simple but powerful: to get people off their phones, away from screens, and back into engaging, active, and social experiences.
Born in Wigan and now living in Bury with his wife and three children (aged 11, 6 and 3), Andy has always been passionate about encouraging people to try something new. His journey into axe throwing began six or seven years ago, when he worked in Health & Safety and trained in survival combat. After incorporating axe throwing into charity events and festivals, demand grew, and the business developed into a permanent venue right here in Colne.
The Axes to Ashes venue was chosen carefully – with free parking, disabled access, and the perfect indoor room height for the sport. The space has been designed with calming, natural materials, creating an inviting environment that reflects the brand’s ethos of fun, focus, and wellbeing.
What’s on Offer
Corporate, wedding, stag/hen, and theme night bookings
Birthday parties with a twist – immersive, interactive adventures
(think dragon slaying, Dungeons & Dragons, and survival skills!)
Bow Battles – capture the flag, protect the king, and traditional archery in a safe, controlled space
A leaderboard for champions
Sessions include a 10-minute waiver and demo, followed by a full hour of throwing
Fridays: from 6:00pm (pre-book or walk-in)
Saturdays & Sundays: 1:30pm – 6:00pm
Price: £24 per person
With five lanes and the only venue in England offering this unique indoor height, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.
Beyond Axe Throwing
Andy has big plans. Alongside weddings and festivals, he’s looking to:
Develop an operational smokehouse kitchen
Launch immersive story-based activities for children and schools
Create a competitive axe throwing team
Introduce indoor BMX and shooting ranges
Build rooftop fire pits to complete the “Axes to Ashes” full-circle experience
Supporting men’s mental health is also close to Andy’s heart. One initiative in development will encourage visitors to lock their phones away during visits, with discounts on food once the kitchen is running – helping people reconnect with real-life experiences.
Meet the Champion
Adding to the venue’s prestige, Kali Tattersall – the UKAT World Axe and Knife Throwing Champion – works at Axes to Ashes and has recently been competing in Germany. Andy himself plans to compete in 2026.
Shop the Brand
Axes to Ashes also sells hand-crafted pizza and steak slicers as well as branded merchandise – from hoodies and t-shirts to fun Christmas jumpers.
Driving Tourism in Colne
With its immersive set-up and competitive edge, Axes to Ashes isn’t just attracting locals – it’s drawing visitors from further afield, encouraging overnight stays and contributing to Colne’s tourism trade.
So whether you’re looking for a unique night out, a memorable party, or a team-building experience, Axes to Ashes is putting Colne firmly on the map.
